Liberal Democrats slam Tories Council Tax increase
Whilst hard pressed local families try to cope with tough times economically, Tory controlled AVDC showed a callous disregard for them by increasing your Council Tax bills by 2% from April. Contrast this with Lib Dem controlled Aylesbury Town Council, who not only didn't increase their bills this year, but have held their share of the Council Tax unchanged for 3 successive years.
Deputy Leader of Aylesbury Town Council, Steve Patrick, said “by careful management of our finances and constantly seeking different ways of doing things to get the best value, we have maintained our services without any cuts, and still not needed to increase people’s bills. What a shame the Conservatives on AVDC chose not to do the same”
Leader of the Lib Dem group on AVDC, Steven Lambert, added “AVDC will actually be receiving more government funding in total this year.

Manifesto for the Bucks County Council Elections

Lib Dems in Bid to Axe Councils
The Lib Dems at Aylesbury Vale District Council have taken the bold step of putting a motion to the council to axe a layer of Local Government. The motion, to the 24th April Full Council meeting is proposed by Cllr Steve Patrick, the councillor for Oakfield and seconded by Cllr Steven Lambert from Coldharbour.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Cllr Patrick said “This motion is about Localism and cost savings as well as cleaning up the local Government of Buckinghamshire. It’s about time someone took the bull by the horns and ended this multi layer, costly local government structure.
